About the cover
Book cover designed by Chati Coronel

The cover for "My Road Back" was inspired by a page from the author's war diary written in pencil and dated June 30, 1942 at Camp O'Donnell, Capas Tarlac. It includes a photograph of his young family; his wife Hermy and his children Louie, Ernie, and Jenny.

"My Road Back"
Tells the story of one man
who raised himself from his
bootstraps and vividly gives us a picturesque experience of his childhood in a small town in the Philippines, San Carlos, Negros Occidental.
As fate would have it he was pulled away from his teaching post to enter the Philippine Military Academy (known then as the Philippine Constabulary Academy) graduating in the class of 1931. He was commissioned as a
3rd lt. and was sent to the most eccentric and legendary "King Canute" of the day in Camp Kalaw, Monkayo in the heartland of Mindanao. There he served under the command of Generals MacArthur and Eisenhower at Camp Keithley before the outbreak of World War II.
He was the executive officer of the 21st Infantry Divisiondefending Lingayen Gulf at the start of the war. The rest is nothing short of a miracle that he survived the Death March, the Japenese occupation and the American liberation.
"His Road Back" leads usto the ideals he had in life - courage, integrity, and loyalty. He married his darling Hermy who bore him seven children and was wedded for sixty years prior to his passing in America.
